Was there some "new light" discussed at the recent JW Conventions" about "3 Heavens" ? I saw someone on facebook saying they're really going to have to review their assembly notes especially the information about the 3 Heavens.

For decades they could have used the television media to spread the "good news" throughout the earth in an instant" but they said it would"cheapen" the message and besides that, we were commanded to go from door to door.
Now, Jehovah's "great and holy name" has been reduced to the letter J.
His "chosen people" will soon be know as JW's
and their religion has become an Org.

If the organization is all about money.....
by Pete Zahut inthen why would they be so insistent about dfing people ?
if it's money the watchtower org is after, it seems like they'd want to hold on to all the members they can.. how would you answer this logic?.

Sorry to be the one to say this, but there's a flaw in your premise, in that it assumes altruism is the primary motivating force in the WTS...
This is not my premise, I'm trying to argue a point with a JW relative who says that Disfellowshipping is not an outright means to control people. He says it is an unfortunate necessity that is carried out in order to accomplish their assignment from God to spread the word and live in accordance to his commandments. He says it is much like a family who has certain members of the family who continually cause the rest of the family distress and termoil and for the good of the family unit, the other members decide to cut him out of their lives until he demonstrates that he will no longer be a source of problems.
This makes as much sense as wondering why Fidel Castro arrested and executed political critics, doesn't he want them to be out in the population working in order to collect taxes from them?
I understand what you are saying but comparing the ousting of someone who is "causing trouble" from a congregation, to Castro's executions doesn't seem appropriate in this case.
To use your own comparison; McDonald's is a business first and foremost; it disciplines workers who act inappropriately - not because it wants to altruistically feed the masses (if that were the case, it would give people food for free) - but because McDonald's employees who act inappropriately negatively impact McDonald's financial bottom line, which, in turn, ultimately threatens its survival.
He agrees, the Watchtower/JW.org is a business and has to be run like one to keep it going but the congregations, where the individuals attend, isn't a buisness. The congregations and individuals are like customers or patrons of the Watchtower/ JW.org. If the Watchtower is all about money, they'd want to keep as many of their customers as possible rather than put them out. He says this proves they are more about accomplishing thier mission than they are about making money.

Your question is the same of "Why Google does not make food?" or "Why McDonalds does not make software?".
They could turn the WT in a big fast food company if you think just in money. But they don't want to abandon their purpose in first place.
WT purpose: Listen Obey and Be Blessed. Control, control, control....
Thanks for all your responses. I agree with the idea that they disfellowship so that they can intimidate or eliminate anyone who may disagree with them. The argument I'm getting is that their mission is to spread the "good news" and obey god's commandments. For the good of the greater number, they disfelloswhip in order to thwart anyone who may be trying to undermine their efforts in accomplishing that purpose much the same way McDonalds might fire someone who was publicaly promoting vegetarianism or speaking out publically or to their coworkers about how bad McDonalds food is.

Something Big is Coming...
by notsurewheretogo inthe annual meeting of the governing body of jehovah's witnesses will be in october 2014.. .. in november 2013, just after the last one they published this now famous statement in the 15th of november 2013 watchtower page 16 paragraph 17 says:.
"at that time, the lifesaving direction that we receive from jehovahs organization may not appear practical from a human standpoint.
all of us must be ready to obey any instructions we may receive, whether these appear sound from a strategic or human standpoint or not.".

If they are expecting something big and it had to do with actual Bible prophecy, they'd be all over it....NOW ! There'd be no waiting....no building of expectation no teasing of the "publishers" who've been waiting with baited breath for decades.
If anything big is coming, it's only about introducing ways for them to make more, by doing less but first they have to condition everyone so they'll be releived to hear what it is and be primed and ready to unquestioningly jump on board with it.
No more printing magazines (let the internet do the work)
No more pioneers and missionaries (let the internet reach the people)
Less meetings...since they've already got people committed for contributions, they'll go for more money making once a month "special assemblies".
All public speaking at the Kingdom Halls and Assemply Halls will be done via satellite or prerecorded video from New York.
No need to go in service and talk...just direct people to the internet.
Celebrating annual non religious events is a conscience matter.
Blood transfusions are acceptable if the blood is seperated into fractions and the seperate fractions are introduced into the body separately.
etc etc etc.

CAPTION COMPETITION !
by Focus innathan h. knorr was the third president of the watchtower society.
he was by mentality a clerk, with a fondness for instructing young male brooklyn bethel inductees as to what was the "right handling" of their genitalia.
it goes without saying he was a liar, a fraud, a hypocrite, a swindler, a conman and a thoroughly evil bastard, and let f.franz perpetrate the great 1975 hoax to boost membership, murdering the hopes of millions of elderly victims while so doing.. joseph f. "judge for 4 days" rutherford was the second president of the watchtower society.

The hardship of being a gay Jehovahs witness.
by truthwillsetyoufree inplease spare a moment to consider the difiiculties faced by gay jehovahs witnesses.
i was raised and baptised as a very serious jw.
every waking moment of my day was lived for jehovahs and his organization and for nothing else.

2 - you have to be fixed in paradise because youre obviously very abnormal
Who could look forward to the "New System" if it meant they were going to have their sexuality changed? A gay person probably wouldn't want to be made "straight" anymore than a "straight" person would want to be made gay.

I'm pretty sure if some random guy stuck a microphone in my face and asked me a such an obviously leading question, I'd keep walking too, especially if there was another random guy standing nearby with a camera. To me, this is the kind of thing that confirms what JW's beleive about those who leave the religion.
Maybe he should stand outside a Catholic church and ask the people exiting, if the Pope is Catholic.

Then she asks him to get a tattoo together, but he refuses because he says JW are not allowed to have one.
Nice to hear the guy still has some scruples left.
